Eve Brash could quite literally run me over and I'd say thank you. This woman has me in a choke hold and I genuinley think she'll be an auto buy author for the rest of my life, and while my bank account will hate me for that, I'm okay with it.
The unhealthy obsession I have with this book is not okay, but damn, I am OBSESSED. I was desperate for this book from the start. I had originally read Seduced Before Sunday first (it can be read after this book), and the ending showed a sneak peek into Shattered from the Start, and from the sentence "Hello, Bastard." I was HOOKED.
Vivi and Seb deserved so much better than what happened to them, and part of me is still so frustrated and angry that they spent so many years a part, because they missed out on so many things, but with that being said, I'm also glad it happened, because the yearning and the need they had for one another was EXTREME. The character were able to grow into themselves and become people they never expected to be, and I feel it also gave them a chance to really mature.
I loved reading in the past and present; I felt Eve did a fantastic job at writing it in a way that wasn't confusing or misunderstood. I loved the Y2K vibes that we got to experience, and I love that it felt as though you were in those years when you were reading the scenes.
Spicy scenes are obviously a very big part of the story, but it's not just about the spice, it's about women learning to be confident within themselves, and not feeling disgusting for the kinks and interests that they have. It was refreshing to read a book where it was picked up on where a woman felt as though she was disgusting for enjoying the act of being degraded and spoke to as though she was nothing, it was refreshing to see a MMC speak on how it's not a bad thing to like those things, and to actually encourage those kind of kinks. It was beautifully written, and it's something I find myself relating to, and I hope that many other women are too.
Finally, more than ANYTHING, I NEED a book on Vivi's sister. There's a level of desperation that I have passed for this, and I cannot wait to learn more about her backstory and the situation she was put in to do the things she did. I also just really miss the characters and want them back in my life.
All in all, I will recommend this book every single time. It is definitely a favourite, one I love and think about daily, and there is no review that I could write where you'd find me hating on the book, but I'm also scared to continue going on about how much I loved the book, because it'll seem like I need professional help.
