I don’t typically read why choose books, but this one caught my attention with the promise of witches and a wraith. I felt connected to the characters and story at first, but midway through there were long stretches where little happened and I felt like nothing was getting accomplished. I wanted more from the story and less idle chatter, and the abrupt cliffhanger left me annoyed. I feel like the book would have been stronger if it were shorter and more focused. I didn’t hate this book, but I didn’t love it either.
