Book: An Ember in the Dawn of Night by Emery Fynn

Firstly, I’m grateful to the author for allowing me to read the book early.
Unfortunately, after struggling for a bit, I couldn’t get into it.
I’m usually a fast reader, but this one took me a whole day to get through 100-something pages out of 400. So I tried to find why I couldn’t get into the book.
After much deliberation, I realised the writing style was not for me.
I also realised I didn’t care for the FMC. Yes, she is in her 30s (something I usually like), and she is full of female rage (I support women’s rights as well as their wrongs). But I couldn’t read as she killed families, women, children, then got offended when someone actually implied she could kill a child even younger.
There are maybe answers down the line, and reasons, I’m sure. But I couldn’t continue reading.
It’s a shame; the world seems to be interesting. Gargoyles, humans, and other creatures live in this world.
Maybe this story will be a better fit for someone else.
