Bear with me as I collect my thoughts; I quite literally just finished reading and I had to start writing this immediately.
This book took me on such an emotional roller-coaster that I don't know what I'm feeling now. This was so well written. I loved that every chapter had a journal snippet, even if we didn't know what it was talking about. I loved that the world was so vibrant and immersive. Not only that, but I truly felt that I was there, behind and outside the Veil.
The characters are exquisite. Each character is so unique in their actions, thoughts and descriptions. Megan did a fantastic job bringing the characters and world to life.
The magic system in the world is also so cool. I won't say much so as not to give things away, but its not something I've seen much of in the Romantasy books I've read. It's unique without being overly complicated.
If you are looking for a story with detailed world building, unique magic, character development for days, and are prepared to be emotionally devasted, all while still keeping many of the traditional Romantasy vibes, this is the book for you.
This book goes immediately into my godtier books of the year. 5🌟 is not enough; 6🌟 isn't even enough. This is a book I will come back to, continuously. I cannot recommend this enough.
