⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4/5 Stars | Veil of Blood and Bone by Brea Viraghs
There’s something about a story that mixes complicated relationships, an intriguing atmosphere, and characters you can’t help but have opinions about. 🖤 Veil of Blood and Bone was an enjoyable read for me, even if it wasn’t without a few bumps along the way.
The characters were the biggest highlight for me. I loved some more than others, which made my reading experience a bit of a mixed bag, but I always appreciate when characters leave me with feelings and opinions rather than blending into the background. The complicated relationships added another layer to the experience and gave me something to think about as I read.
The atmosphere was another element that caught my attention. I found the world interesting, and I wanted a little more depth and detail to really feel immersed in it. I could see the potential, but I was left wishing the worldbuilding had been developed further.
My biggest issue was the pacing. There were moments when the story didn't flow as smoothly as I would have liked, and that kept it from becoming a five-star read for me. I wanted a more consistent rhythm to fully settle into the story.
Even with those criticisms, I still enjoyed my time with this book. The characters and complicated relationships gave me plenty to appreciate, and I'm glad I gave it a chance.
Final rating: 4/5 stars. A good read with characters that stood out to me, an interesting atmosphere, and a few pacing and worldbuilding issues that kept it just shy of five stars.
