"What. The. Fuck" - Me, most of the book
This book is a dark fantasy retelling of the witch trials in Salem. It is very heavy on the mystery side and light on the romance. The worldbuilding was insanely well done and the vibe quite horror-ish. The town and its inhabitants are so poisonous that you can't help but side with the witches. I don't even want to speak about the reverend ๐Ÿคฎ
For half the story, Amity is a young witch trying to fit in this awful town while actively hiding her true nature. Her meeting with other witches is a huge opportunity for her. She can finally be understood and learn everything. The enemies-to-something relationship with the male witch was quite entertaining. He was so powerful and mysterious ๐Ÿฅต
When she got married, the story became a bit darker and Amity almost lost her hopeful nature. Her husband was everything he needed to be (and more) and I loved how she stayed by his side. Once the male witch came back, he was quite manipulative and pushy but Amity stood her ground. You go, girl!
I'm still not quite sure what happened to my brain at the end other than โ†˜๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ญโ†—๏ธ๐Ÿ˜กโ†˜๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ญโ†—๏ธ. Rhiannon got me so lost, I didn't know who I trusted and liked anymore!
