I have always been a fan of the quiet ones. Isak is a perfect example of the strong, silent type. He keeps his accomplishments hidden, despite being a star quarterback and a member of the famous Kingman clan. He isn't flashy. But he has this adorable way of letting his mouth run away with him and get him in trouble. And he has style.
Clover is also of the still waters run deep variety. She observes and assesses before she acts, which is a quality I admire. I can relate to her experiences as a dancer who doesn't fit the typical body type, and is encouraged to give up sooner than she may have wanted to because of it. I love seeing her trying to change the system and give a space for anyone to join- regardless of how they look- just based on how they move. It definitely heals something for me.
Unlike the rest of the series, this book is quieter. It's definitely a slower burn and not so spicy. But I didn't miss it, because the journey Clover and Isak take from meeting to faking to feelings kept me enthralled the whole way. Their love is so sweet, and their story is unique and romantic. Every scene with the two of them together gave me tingles.
As always in the Cocky Kingman series, the Kingman clan is present and proud. They are there giving the family we have all always wanted. There are pet shenanigans galore- including two sassy cats who may be having their own romance as well. My favorite in this book is the glimpses of Jules (the final Kingman sibling who hasn't had a book yet). I love how she supports and challenges her brothers while giving them crap as only a little sister can. I also can't wait for her book next.
