Last Thrall of Asgard by Amanda Meuwissen
⭐⭐⭐½ (3.5/5)
Similar to the first book in the Lovers of the Gods series, Oli is transported via the Bifrost to the realm of the Norse gods—a gift from Loki in hopes that the others will forget about his role in setting off Ragnarok. He is passed around to eight different gods, pleasing them and being pleased through a variety of sexual acts. Each encounter not only heals something within the gods, but something inside Oli as well.
Unlike the previous book, Oli and Loki's love story slowly burns throughout, helping balance out the (admittedly delicious) smut. Oli really just wants to be loved, especially after developing feelings for his previous master, Thorsten, whom he mistakenly believed reciprocated. Loki, meanwhile, is searching for self-acceptance, something his growing connection with Oli helps him find. I liked the addition of their romance, as it gave the book enough dimension that it didn't feel like a retread of the first.
I'm not nearly as familiar with Norse mythology as I am with Greek mythology, so I enjoyed getting these loose interpretations of the gods and their stories. I'm particularly intrigued by Mimir, who—after being beheaded—became a living head. I have SO many questions and now need to know more about how that happened.
