Mistral Hearts takes place immediately after the events of Growing Memories. This last novel in the Valley of Sylveren trilogy focuses on Calya Helm, the younger sister of Anadae Helm, and her determination to take over the family company. However, with the aforementioned events, her plans get a little complicated when she and everyone else begins to unravel the mysteries of what’s been happening, especially when there’s the gruff ranger, Nocren Lowe.
Calya Helm is someone you would never want to be on the wrong side of and her story has a level of intensity that I was not expecting. She is very much her own person and very independent but there are moments of her vulnerability that show through, especially when it comes to those she cares about. At the same time, she has reservations regarding the people around her and how much she can trust them. I love the evolution of her character and I enjoyed getting to know her especially since I’ve had glimpses of her throughout the series.
Overall, I’m sad that the trilogy is over. I adored my time in the Valley of Sylveren and I hope there’s a chance of returning sometime in the future. If you have started the series or you’re looking for a series to binge, I highly recommend this one. There’s quite a bit of everything and it feels like home. Thank you so much, Jaime Ryanne for welcoming me on this journey. I loved every moment and I hope there are more adventures (wherever they may be).
Thank you to Jaime Ryanne and Behind the Pages PA for the gifted ARC. All opinions are my own.
