Book: Honeyed Fables by Whitney Dean

This book was part of my sub box: “Butterfly Book club.” It was supposed to be a Dark Romance, but I’m still looking for the dark part.
Took me a while to get to it. The book is short, 282 pages. As such, I finished it within a couple of hours. The author’s style flows easily, making the story a breeze to read.
I enjoyed most of her secondary characters as well as the story setting. The whole story revolving and taking place mostly around the small bookshop Fallon owns is quite nice. It reminded me of the one I go to, where you can speak with the employees and chat about books because they are not only employees but passionate readers too.
So why that rating? Because I couldn’t find in me to care about the main protagonists. The secondary protagonists felt more vivid and interesting, but the MCs were . . .. I wouldn’t say cliché but almost.
On top of it, the romance was way too fast, plus the MMC gave me a bad aftertaste. No clue why exactly.
From the open ending, it seems like there will be another book, but . . . I’ll pass.
