Book: The Truth According to Ember by Danica Nava

I was excited about a Native American romance and thought the writing was really good, especially a debut. I loved Danuwoa Colson, the main love interest. He was a well thought out character with so much heart and charm that he felt like a real person. I thought the story was a great idea and learned a great deal about the racism that Native Americans deal with on a daily basis. The problem? I hated Ember, the main character. I know the premise was that she lied on her resume to get her job. I thought choosing Caucasian (her father is white) to see if she'd get a callback was interesting and I was fine with the first few lies she told to get the job. The problem was that she just kept lying when it didn't matter or move the story forward. This made her character hard to root for and just dragged the story down.
