This was a sweet but heartwrenching MC romance. Don't expect a dark and violent story, this is mostly a small town second chance plot . The characters are so broken, it almost made me cry for them...
The MC war plot took a background spot and was mostly to help us understand how the MMC changed. I liked that. The flashbacks were very insigthful and allows us to understand their previous relationship and why it's so painful for them.
What stopped me from rating Rook 4 stars (and taking from "I really liked it" to "I love it") was that felt like a whole section was missing.
EDIT: The author heard our pleas and decided to add some scenes to help with the pace. All books bought after release, will have those

Overall, Rook is a fast and beautiful second chance romance that everyone can enjoy 💕
