I will always be a sucker for a marriage of convenience romance, especially when it's between enemies. And Liv and Logan are definitely enemies when they drunkenly get married in Vegas.
Liv is promised a promotion to partner at the sports agency where she works, only to be told she's not "settled" enough because she isn't married with children. It's misogyny at its finest, and I was immediately rooting for her to prove everyone wrong. Liv is bold, ambitious, fiercely intelligent, and determined to succeed on her own merits. She's also incredibly guarded when it comes to love, which makes the moments where she lets Logan in feel that much more meaningful.
And Logan? I am obsessed. When the mother of his one-year-old daughter, Magnolia, suddenly reappears to fight for custody after spending the first year of Maggie's life absent, Logan will do absolutely anything to protect his little girl—including marrying the woman he can't stand. He is hands-down one of my favorite single dads I've ever read. Protective, devoted, and completely wrapped around Maggie's little finger, he somehow became even more attractive once he stepped into full-on papa bear mode. Add in the fact that he's very much a he falls first, he falls harder hero, and I was completely sold.
The banter between Liv and Logan is fantastic. Their constant snark hides an attraction that's been simmering beneath the surface for far longer than either of them wants to admit. The romance takes its time developing, allowing them to build genuine trust and emotional intimacy before fully giving in to their feelings. And once they do? The chemistry absolutely delivers. The spice is fantastic, but it's the emotional connection and the little family they create with Maggie that completely stole my heart.
This book made me laugh, cry (real tears were shed), and swoon in equal measure.
I honestly think this may be my favorite Kroydon Hills book yet—which is saying something because this entire series has been phenomenal.
