The Kiss Thief stole my heart while making me run through a gauntlet of emotions!
This book gave me the vibes of a loose Beauty & The Beast vibes. Francesca live a life privilege life at the making of her father who is one of the heads of "The Outfit" which is a mafia organization. She was raised to be a proper lady who would be arranged to marry Angelo who's father is also one of men in The Outfit. During a party that Francesca and Angelo are attending with their parents, Francesca hopes that tonight will be the opportunity to Kiss her love, Angelo. They were close since being children. Francesca finds a moment outside where she hopes Angelo will find her and potentially kiss her. The kiss moment happens and everything in Francesca's life changes. She meets Senator Wolfe Keaton, one of the most powerful and hottest men she has ever seen. He steals a kiss and next thing you know, he's gone to her father and forced him to hand her over to him in marriage. Francesca is livid and refuses but Wolfe gives her no options and her father makes no movement to forbid it. Her life changes forever and now she has to navigate life as the future Mrs. Keaton.
He has many rules and is very upfront about his disdain for normal relationship interactions. But Wolfe hasn't met someone like Francesca before. He begins to see the amazing person she is and that he might be willing to change the way he does things for her, or will he sabotage it all in the end?
This book took me through a range of emotions. I loved the dynamic between Wolfe and Francesca. She was the innocent and soft hearted while he was strong and hard headed. L.J. takes you through so many emotions during this story as you watch the relationship grow between them. Wolfe makes so many mistakes that cost him big, but Francesca holds back important things from Wolfe that changes so many things. There are moments in this book that broke my heart not only for Francesca but even Wolfe. The mafia life tries to infiltrate Wolfe's but he is determined to take them down one by one to protect Chicago citizens from The Outfit. I loved reading this and watching the character growth. I could not put this book down. It had good pace and the right amount of spice and plot. If you love a Mafia story with a lot of trials and tribulations, then this is thr book for you. There are so many heartbreaking and loving moments in this story, it will capture your heart. Please check your TW's as there are some heavy topics in this book.
