If you could take everything I love about classic omegaverse stories and put it into a single novel, it would be Lusting For Power.
Arlo Silva wants only one thing when it comes to Alphas: anything more than a one-night stand puts him at risk of being claimed and losing the life he’s worked hard to build. When he spots Liam Carlisle in the club, he seems like the perfect Alpha to spend a few hours with.
Their one night spins out of control when Liam’s mafia rivals threaten Arlo’s safety. Confident that Arlo is his fated mate, Liam offers him his penthouse and his protection. But Arlo knows Alphas cannot be trusted, even if his Omega instincts are telling him to give in.
These two! Liam is a soft mafia boss and oh so dreamy. So while he did kinda (absolutely) kidnap Arlo, you could see from the first sushi dinner that he wanted to get to know him and do this right (once the immediate danger had passed). Arlo is sassy and smart, and holds his own against Liam. While he does make some choices that have readers yelling “oh no,” it doesn’t feel arbitrary because of his strong character development. Wynne does such an amazing job of slowly showing us who these two are through their actions and charming dinner conversations.
I love that Arlo is definitely on the reluctant side of this fated mates scenario. Throughout the story, we learn that while Omegas are now equal citizens, they still face systematic oppression and threats from Alphas who use claiming bites as a means of control. I am excited about the world Wynne has created, and I can’t wait to read more!
