Thank you The Dial Press for the gifted book. All opinions are my own.
What a swoony, slooooow burn holiday romance that really had me in my feels. 🥹
Alaina is roadtripping across the US on her way to win her ex-boyfriend back. She’s trying to be spontaneous , but instead crashes her car into a snowbank, leaving her stranded in a beautiful snowy small town in Utah while her car undergoes repairs. But maybe it’s not all bad being rescued by the town’s beautiful (and grumpy) town bookstore owner? 🥰
Ok, so when I say “slow burn”, I really need to emphasize…it’s a “slooooow” one. 😂 Get ready some delicious yearning, and pining, sexuality questioning, and plenty of lustful thoughts, which makes it all the sweeter when it finally happens. 🙌 (The way my family tried to interrupt my reading when they finally kissed! 😭 The audacity! 😩)
Alaina’s holiday bucket list was a really fun way to structure the story, as every day they tried something new from her list like skating or camping, and as you can imagine, it lead to much forced proximity and plenty of hands on help, and oh it was a lot of flirty, wintery fun.
I also really loved Sil’s friend group in town; a really sweet queer family in which Alaina just fit so perfectly.
Both MCs have had difficult/complicated family relationships, leading them to be pretty closed off to others, and it was great seeing them work through those things as the story came to a head.
One of those reads I was so excited to pick up every time I had a chance. I really enjoyed my time in this town with these characters. ♥️
