This series is such a guilty pleasure for me; I read it way back in 2021 as one of my first why choose books and got sucked right back into Amelie's story.
My crush on Baxter has also been reignited (I have forgiven for the misstep in the library). I am very put out at Amelie's insistence that she feel nothing for him as I am ready to swap him out for the twins. Kalen was my favourite (until he wasn't) but that is 100% down to James Joseph; I loved the energy he brought to the character and the fact he voiced Baxter too was an added bonus. I really enjoyed Valerie Starre's Amelie; she had the perfect blend of humour, vulnerability and sheer audacity throughout. Did she make some questionable choices? Absolutely. Was I still 100% invested though? Definitely! The other narrators were all new to me and I enjoyed the performances in this duet multicast.
The secrets start to come out in the final couple of chapters and I love the direction this is going. There is some big time grovel incoming and I can't wait to relive it in audio!
My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read
