I was lucky enough to be chosen to listen to the first two books, and this one is the last in the series.
This book, like the first one, left me feeling giddy and fuzzy. Leo and Katia are characters in their forties. They act like it. There isn’t miscommunication or third-act breakups because, shocker, they talk it out when it’s small enough.
They are both caring: Katia in a maternal way, Leo in a very protective one.
Once again, the two narrators, Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross, did a very good job. I don’t speak Russian at all, but to me, she did imitate the Russian accent fairly well; I, however, cannot comment on how well she actually spoke Russian. It did feel a bit choppy. Again, I don’t speak the language; I'm just used to hearing it.
It is a dark romance, but here the dark part is the environment, not the romance itself.
This book is perfect for those who want mature characters, not-so-high-stakes, sweet and steamy romance, and no drama.
