Kingdom of the Owl by Christine Drummond pulled me into its world from the very beginning through its immersive worldbuilding and first-person narrative.
Having a strong FMC was refreshing, and she rarely had to rely on the MMC to save her. Both characters brought their own strengths—and weaknesses—to the story, and I loved the way their character arcs developed throughout. The pacing was spot on, never being too fast or too slow. The suspense, action, tension, and of course the spice all appeared at the right moments. The growth of the characters felt steady and believable, which made it easy to become even more invested in Adria and Will's journey.
And just when I thought I knew where everything was going—BAM!—a plot twist appeared and caught me completely off guard. It was something I never even considered. But despite the shock, the story wrapped up on a relatively sweet note that left me excited rather than frustrated, and now I'm counting down the days until book two.
This one was definitely a 5-star read. So if you like a story that will immerse you in a fantasy world with slow-burn romance, perfectly timed tension, and an ending that will leave you desperate for more, add Kingdom of the Owl to your TBR.
