My emotions are all over the place right now 😅 I'm crying.
I was so excited to be accepted to Rhi's team, and this was the book that led to it. Definitely check out the trigger warnings before diving in.
As a survivor, I love how Anne dealt with her attackers. God knows I've had those same thoughts and daydreams. I really appreciate the fact that they've written into a book, in explicit detail. Not glossed over, nor eluded to the fact that they received justice. We get to experience it from Anne's POV, in the moment as she's getting her revenge. Her thoughts, her feelings...it healed a little part of me.
I love that I get to experience this all with Anne, especially because as survivors, we experience the same thoughts, feelings, reactions, trauma; essentially the same "character arc" Anne does.
We too feel broken, unlovable, damaged, gross, so the BEST part...is her healing; finding love, her worth, the fact that she's worthy of being loved AND her saving others.
The amount of research and historical detail woven into this story is also such a treat. I love when authors do this, AND include historical tidbits at the end of the book. It's so neat!
