Ohhh, this was such an extraordinary sequel. Thank you Kae for this ARC! I absolutely loved Beyond the Maples, and Between the Lindens was just as exquisite! I didn't want it to end... Now, what am I supposed to do till we get the next book? 💔
The "previously on..." as a diary entry was such a unique idea, it was fabulous! And so, so useful.
I truly love Maple, she's fierce, loyal, stubborn, and so haunted. And she has the most beautiful relationship with her siblings, both by blood and by choice. I think she has grown a lot since we first met her, and she's unraveling a lot of secrets and hidden identities along the way.
Leo is one of my favorite characters, he always makes me laugh, he's the funniest and sweetest, and I'm really rooting for him and Lachlan to be together, they would be great 🤭
And then there was Tane, and he was so amazing in this book. I loved his chapters, and I could understand him and his actions better. I really enjoyed the slow-burn and the reluctance, but in the end, we know that they belong together.
Another thing I truly enjoyed was the expanded world-building and magic system. That was incredible, and there were a lot of new monsters and magical creatures, both good and evil. I'm eager to know more about Arcadya, all the Gods and their powers, and all the things that went wrong, ending up in that semi-barren, war-torn continent.
Of course we are left with a mind-blowing cliffhanger at the end 🥺
