Book: Rite of Unity by Caz Andra

Rite of Unity completely surprised me.
Even from the prologue I knew I was reading something different, and it quickly became one of those books I struggled to put down.
The concept immediately hooked me, but what really stood out was the world the author created. The Covenant States felt both fascinating and unsettling, and I found myself reflecting on the society long after I'd put the book down. The world-building unfolded naturally, allowing me to piece everything together without feeling overwhelmed. There were a couple of moments where the pacing felt slightly abrupt, and I still have a few lingering questions about the world, but neither took away from my enjoyment.
The writing was consistently strong throughout, but for me it was the plot that really shone. Rather than peaking early, the story continued to build momentum with each chapter, and by the second half I couldn't stop reading.
Maryn was an easy protagonist to root for, and I became genuinely invested in the characters around her. I did find myself connecting more with Elias for much of the story, and at times I felt Maryn extended more grace to Calden than she did to Elias.
Although I did grow to appreciate Calden as the story progressed, I would have loved a little more time with him earlier in the book to deepen that connection.
The ending genuinely surprised me and left me desperate to know what happens next (I am strongly rooting for a sequel PLEASE).
If you're looking for a dystopian fantasy with an original premise, engaging characters, thoughtful social commentary and a plot that just keeps getting better, I'd definitely recommend picking this one up.
