Markus Redmond absolutely rocked my world with this story of slaves, Willie and Gerti, who meet the mysterious Rafazi who gives them a choice - become a vampire and take revenge on the owners of Barrow Plantation or stay slaves and let their offspring be born slaves.
So, do they keep their humanity or do they become something ... more ... in order to gain their freedom. Honestly, is becoming a vampire making them any less humane than their owners? What a delicious predicament.
The writing in this book is so lush and intense that I had a visceral reaction so many of the scenes.
Brilliantly written from cover to cover I have now read this book three times and each time I found new things to be absolutely floored by. Redmond has a voice that I can't wait to read more from. Bring on Blood Rising!
