Wow, what an incredible journey! How I loved this story!
The world-building was so intriguing! The differences between the Sun Kingdom and the Moon Queendom, their hatred and their unique powers, everything was so consuming.
Lora and Zai were amazing characters, both of them having such a rough childhood and trauma, their raw guilt and intense feelings always overwhelming them. But in the end, they were so alike. I loved them both.
And of course Kestrel was the best side character! Always bringing joy with an amusing ballad. He was so lovable, funny, and kind. I hope we get to see more of him in book 2!
The prophecy, the quest, the exile, and the sky pirates... every path in this story was incredible. And the world was so bleak, there were so many unfair deaths, it was really hard to keep living, keep surviving. And that's even without mentioning the monsters!
