Fangs with Benefits is a fun paranormal rom-com. Molly is a disgruntled IT worker, who has been passed over for a promotion, again. And to add insult to injury, the man who got the job knows exactly nothing about computers, much less running the IT department for a corporation and she's been tasked with being his onboarding trainer. To make it even worse, Elijah is really, really hard to hate. He's kind, earnest and endlessly charming.
Elijah is a 400ish year old vampire who has spent the last century in self-imposed isolation. Determined to learn how to live in society again, he uses his vampiric compulsion to get a job he's not remotely qualified for. When Molly accidentally discovers his secret identity (which she's not terribly phased by. Growing up in the Twilight/True Blood generation has some benefits) she kind of/sort of blackmails him: she won't spill his secret and she'll help him with his quest to reintegrate into the modern world but he has to use his powers to get her the promotion she deserves. Their close working relationship soon morphs into a friends-with-benefits situation as both try, but ultimately fail, to not catch feelings.
I really liked the take on vampire lore in Fangs with Benefits. While a lot of the broad strokes felt familiar, there were some fun changes that make the climax of the story super fulfilling. It was a delightful read with fun main and side characters. I hope there's a sequel that follows up on Elijah's werewolf BFF. Because that has the potential to be even more fun!
