Tropes: MM Romance Workplace Romance Virgin MMC Grumpy sunshine Set in the 1980’s Opposites Attract Forced Proximity
This was a great spicy novella. This book introduces you to Walt and Johnny. Walt opened up a bar recently and he's having a hard time. Johnny lost his job and finds himself at Walt's bar. After watching Walt struggle, Johnny says a few things that piss Walt off. Johnny decided to lend a hand since Walt was still struggling. Johnny did a great job bartending and ended up getting hired at Walt's bar. They're drawn to each other and end up dating.
Since the story's set in the 80s, it touches on the homophobia that was common during that era. Walt's battle to accept his own sexuality felt deeply genuine and heartbreaking. Johnny was such a good character. He supported Walt in both his professional and personal life. His lively vibe was a nice change from Walt's grumpiness.
That was a really good, quick read. If you're into MM romances with grumpy/sunshine vibes, I'd totally recommend this.
