I need everyone to stop what they’re doing and move this to the VERY top of your TBR. If you’re between reads, if you’re in a slump, if you keep staring at your Kindle like it personally offended you, this is the cure.
Bound by the Sky is a sky pirate romantasy with delicious steampunk vibes, and it feels like stepping into a world made of wind, metal, magic, and pure adventure. The magic system is unique in a way that actually feels fresh. It’s crafted in relics used as magical items that take on different abilities.
The romance is a slow burn with the kind that feeds you tension in perfect increments and leaves you feral over the smallest moments. The spice is light, but don’t let that fool yo u because there is so much steam . It’s all in the chemistry, the proximity, the tension threaded through every interaction, and the way the emotional payoff hits because the buildup earned it.
And the side-characters?? Loved them. This book has that found family energy that makes you want to crawl into the pages and claim a bunk for yourself. Every dynamic feels intentional—banter that lands, bonds that feel lived-in, and a cast that made me care about what happens to them.
Also, the pacing is dangerously good . Megan Elisabeth knows exactly when to punch in the action, when to let a quieter moment breathe, and when to drop a line that makes you whisper, “oh no,” right before you turn the page anyway. I didn’t want to put it down because it was consistently compelling.
And listen… I’m not someone who thinks every book needs to be turned into a movie or series, but Bound by the Sky ? I could see it so clearly it’s honestly rude that it doesn’t exist yet. (Maybe animated, because the visuals in my head are too epic to be trapped by questionable CGI.) This world would be stunning on screen, and I want to watch it as much as I loved reading it.
This is absolutely going to stay a top read of 2026 for me. I’m recommending it to everyone with a pulse. Go read it. I need a full book club of people who’ve finished this so we can scream together, because I have thoughts and nowhere to put them. 🥺
