This book perfectly captures just how cruel and unforgiving the sea can be. I loved how the story gradually built up to such a climactic reveal. Holly’s writing is beautifully poetic, with an almost cinematic quality that made everything feel so vivid.
The king is trying his best to dutifully save his kingdom while saving her. He knows he should be leading her to her death, yet he can’t help but feel the need to care for her. Reading him struggle with these conflicting feelings was absolutely heartbreaking. 💔 He's also the king of slow burn.
Louisa is a wonderful heroine: she's powerful and courageous. She really gave her whole to discover what is happening and is the reason we got answers.
