Pretty sure this book just re-arranged my heart and soul then lit it all on fire! WOW, what a way to kick off a new Dark MC Romance series! Three words... SILAS "KING" MERCER!! The storyline of this book kicks off with an intense plot right from the start, following Silas who is the President of the Crimson Crows MC making a deal with one of his enemies to get intel on a rival leader who Silas needs to be eliminated. His rival contact agrees to give him the intel he needs but only in exchange for the protection of his sister Brinley Webber (our FMC). He wants to make sure she is protected to help clean up the dangerous mess he's helped to make. Brinley has no idea the mess her brother is in or why he's forcing her into the hands of Silas Mercer. She's angry and full of fire, and immediately begins to stand her ground and show how unhappy she is at this arrangement. Silas puts an immediate NO Touch rule with his crew over Brinley, and this is supposed to include him. But do things always go neatly as planned? Not for Silas, she's a wildfire blazing right through his soul while hating him because she thinks he's responsible for her the trouble her brother is in, and Silas does his best to fight his pull to her despite it. As the story progresses you watch Brinley give as much as she takes, but along the way, she begins to find a pull and sees beyond the hard exterior of Silas and his dangers MC world. Brinley sees the way he cares for his family and his club without reservation or care for himself.
Just when I think I know where things are going, plot twist you didn't know. Silas and Brinley can't ignore the pull and even though he put an off limits rule on Brinley he can't stand the thought of her anywhere or with anyone but him. When her life is in danger, he immediately moves her to his personal home with his family and in that moment things are never the same. Brinley, who lost her mother at a young age and no father, she finds so much peace and love in the middle of all the dangers she's in. Silas cares for his Elderly grandmother, younger sister & brother, plus his infant step brother, Kai. I have to tell you the way this sweet baby toddler was written ran away with my heart and soul. He makes you laugh, cry and want to snuggle his sweet soul. Brinley immediately attaches and it blows Silas away. When the dam of emotions breaks between these two and they see each others scars and heart...it made my heart smile.
I absolutely loved this book and it had so many great characters to love and a fast, intense plot with twists and turns. Lots of action and so much heart. The Spice be spicin' in this one, so buckle up my friends. I will 100% be continuing this series. A.L. Jackson writes beautifully and with so much heart. I can't wait to read the next in the series.
