After working her butt off for years and the carrot of the Partner title always danged just out of reach, Olivia's had it when the goal post is moved yet again for the dumbest reason possible: the partners (all old white men, of course) just aren't sure how she's manage since she's young and not "settled" yet. Read: she's young and doesn't have a husband and/or kids to juggle and it's "inevitable" that once she does, she'll suddenly suck at her job. UGH.
Enter the man that publicly called her an Ice Queen/her enemy, Logan Adler. At a blackjack table in Vegas, Logan and Olivia bond over the public's opinion of them being tied to whether or not they're married. For Olivia, it's tied to her dedication to her job, and for Logan it's an indicator for the type of provider and man he can be for his one year old daughter whose mother is taking him to court for custody.
In a bet, they decide to get married and stay together until they both get what they want, at which point they will go their separate ways. But in order to be convincing, they have to live together and that means Olivia giving up her life to slot into the dedicated role of wife and stepmom to Logan's daughter Magnolia (Maggie).
I was lucky enough to get a copy of the Sweet Salvation audiobook and it was fantastic. Samatha Brentmoor and Corvin King truly couldn't have done a better job. Their chemistry was fantastic, and the storytelling was top notch.
THAT BEING SAID, the last 20% of the book? Yeah, I'm going to have to forward that therapy bill to Mrs. Matthews because she had me crying in the car while I had a full face of makeup on and somewhere to be! I guess I shouldn't have been surprised because I also cried during the last one for a completely different reason, but now I'm wondering if that will be the norm for me and this series! Obviously, I liked the book and the audio got my stamp of approval.
