Book: Lady Clementine and the Trident of Poseidon by Camilla Taipalvesi

Rating: 4.5/5

Lady Clementine survived her adventure in Egypt, but she's having a hard time recovering from William's lies and betrayal. Despite this, their fake engagement needs to proceed if she wants to go on another adventure. This time they're off to Athens in Greece, hunting for Poseidon's legendary trident. Clementine is also looking for her missing Papa, and with them are a former rival (JoJo) and a dark stranger (Treavan). But can she trust any of them?

When I started to read it felt a bit like coming home, even though there's only been one other book about Clementine. Rather unexpected, but a nice feeling. I still love Clementine's ability to fight and her attitude towards women's choices during this time (the Victorian era). I still wanted to shake her sometimes, when her thoughts began to spiral and she lost focus!

Treavan was a welcomed addition to the character list, while William seems to have changed personality since the first book; I really wanted to smack him so many times! The love triangle worked better than I thought (I was a bit worried about that), but I eventually got slightly tired with William's and Treavan's constant digs at each other. I didn't think I would like JoJo after the events in the first book, but I did. My favorite is Luna, though!

We also get more fantasy elements here, which I enjoy, and there are quite a lot of surprises. I'm now very curious to see what awaits Lady Clementine & co next time!
I received an eARC from the author, but I've bought and read a physical copy. All thoughts are my own. *
