I was drawn in by the cover, then the description and then the dark trigger warnings sealed it.
it was very slow at the beginning. Iโm really dragged I almost DNF it but Iโm glad I continued on as the second half was very good but still missing a lot of detail. I understand most questions will be answered in the next book however we couldโve done with a little more insight or intrigue or even some history in this book. Iโm one of these idiotic readers that can spot whatโs about to happen or predict the most obvious of things- however Iโm so sure we learn some big things toward the last chapters and yet weโre not shown anything about them, weโre just left โknowingโ some things before the fmc even does. The one main question to me is why he took her when he did? Why that date not a year prior or later? The book could really have benefited from his pov as it was difficult to nderstand his motives, his wants and his reasons.
The smut/romance side was just confusing, celstine clearly developed feelings for her kidnapper which is fine, she also had some hidden kinks she wasnโt aware of, which again is fine. What I couldnโt get my head around was the complete flips in personality of the mmc, one minute he is horrible and forceful, he is humiliating her and degrading her, next minute he is kind and thoughtful and wants her to love him, and then it flips back and he wants her to hate him and it continues like this. Itโs not even in a way to confuse her or get under her skin, he just flips about with his style. I want him to be possessive and obsessive but with a caring side but this was not that, it was like the character didnโt know what to be so it just became very unbelievable and difficult to read. This also meant I struggled with the emotional connection between them and now Iโve finished it I still wouldnโt be able to tell you if he likes her or hates her.
Iโm actually quite gutted because I love the general plot! And I want to know what happens next! I spotted mistakes, punctuation and spelling errors and plot inconsistencies but the author doesnโt allow messages so how can she possibly hope to get any feedback or help?
I just wished I could have beta read this and helped the author perfect this into what it deserves to be. If she had had more people on her team or perhaps some more observant people then these things would have been caught.
For example- one minute she is getting zipped into a dress and the next she is going for a shower ready to get dressed for the evening.

The characters did not have much growth at all, nor did they have much to help the reader vizualize them. There was a fair amount of repetitiveness in the first half that got so annoying. I donโt understand how a book looks so amazing, has been promoted well but hasnโt seen an editor at all?
I struggle to connect with the FMC Celestine. I found it to be really funny and not asking a question that she showed even if she thought she wouldnโt get an answer. It was so many questions to be asked or even screamed. She was sickly sweet and just doesnโt stand up for herself. Now I get in some situations you would just be unable to, but she was written with so much inner fire and anger and had a defiant streak so thick that it left me dumbfounded that she use it more.
Her memory issues - were they memory issues? Was a witch involved? Why could we not get a little teeny bit of clarity at the end?

I received this as an arc, I read the whole book and these are my honest personal thoughts. I am aware that an arc should be a Finished copy ready for sale, so to have found so many mistakes was very disappointing and distracting. Luna- please get yourself a better editor and beta team for book 2! Your story deserves it!

I managed to finish it but it was rubbish. I won't keep a physical copy and won't recommend it, but it's a shame as the plot could have made a good book in another author's hands

It was OK. I wish I didn't start this one as it didn't do it for me as I struggled to read it. It had an interesting premise that fell flat but I had to see what happened in the end.

I don't regret reading it, and I will read the next one, but this one did have a few flaws. [These could be repetitive writing, gaps or plot holes, better character growth or world building, areas needing more detail]
Generally, the book lacked depth and became confusing. The plot resonated with me even though it annoyed me on the whole.

I'm glad I read it. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to the right people, but I wanted more! Sadly, it's easily forgettable with a few issues I just couldn't overlook/get past.

Good book! I loved it, but... I needed more! I really did enjoy it, but it had a few parts that needed more detail or added history/background or lore. But that's because the story or characters were memorable, and the plot was strong with brilliant twists. I would re-read if I needed to catch up for the next book and would recommend.

This is my God level tier. The book must be perfectly memorable. Even after reading 50+ more books, I will remember character names and emotions along with the plot. If there is a special edition, then I need to own it! If there is a conversation on books- I'm talking about this!
