Here for a Thatcher Spin Off

Book: Punished By My Enemy by Logan Fox

I was quite surprised at the direction this book took to round out the series as after the focus being on Haven and Kai's suffering, I really thought Bastian would be the one to get some heat this time. Somehow he is still pulling all the strings and I would have loved to have seen him on the back foot for a couple of chapters. I took a long time to warm up to him again after the crypt scene and for what he almost did to Kai but I loved this as a turning point for Haven when she called a stop to everything. It was the final scene with Billy that gave me pause; check your triggers for that one.

Despite Kai and Haven finding their way back to each other, their relationship is still volatile as they try and resolve their feelings for Bastian. I appreciated that it wasn't all immediate sunshine and rainbows as they both had trauma still to work through. I felt so sorry for Melissa though who genuinely seemed to have been caught in the crossfire; it was definitely the best outcome though as I can't see how Bastian could have been made it back if that had gone any further. Ezra was also someone I didn't see coming; his motivations in the previous books were something I kept coming back to and the reveal and the resolution wasn't anywhere near what I imagined!

This kept me guessing throughout and I am here for a Thatcher spin off; I need to know about all those trophies and I am here for a crossover with Cinderhart as the mystery of what happened to Amy is still niggling at me!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
