What a wildly fun, ultra-sexy monster romance. In a world where supernatural creatures exist out in the open, Adam turning into a zombie—thanks to a curse—is only really a problem for him… and his ex-girlfriend Jen, who he runs to for help.
What I loved most is that Adam’s biggest transformation isn’t physical—it’s emotional. He goes from an immature, selfish partner to someone who truly understands what it means to love and show up for another person. When they were together before, Jen was carrying the entire relationship—managing their home, their lives, and her full-time job as a nurse—while Adam coasted. Watching him realize that love isn’t about taking, but about giving without expectation, was incredibly satisfying. By the end, he’s the ultimate (zombie) boyfriend.
Jen, meanwhile, has the patience of a saint—because I would have told him to get lost immediately. Letting your ex crash on your couch is one thing. Letting him blast music in the morning and leave milk out overnight? Absolutely not. That said, Jen isn’t perfect either. She tends to bottle things up rather than communicate, which only fuels her resentment. Watching her learn to voice her needs instead of suffering in silence added a really nice layer of growth to their dynamic.
I also loved how expansive this world feels. We get glimpses of minotaurs, vampires, shifters, and dragons, and I would happily dive deeper into every corner of it.
At its core, this book doesn’t take itself too seriously—and that’s exactly what makes it work. It’s chaotic, spicy, a little unhinged, and just an all-around good time.
