Love On Time by Treasure Lynne
⭐⭐⭐½ (3.5/5)
This is a sweet, quiet second-chance romance between high school sweethearts who find their way back to each other during a week of wedding celebrations. The book is the perfect length, giving us plenty of time to understand the depth of Drew and Camille's feelings, both in the past and as they reconcile, without dragging things out.
Drew is the yearningest man to ever yearn, and I love him for it. The way he quietly pined for Camille when she was a shy band nerd and he was the popular but serious football team captain hit me right in the feels. He saw Camille when she was invisible to everyone else and loved her long before he ever worked up the courage to tell her. He broke both their hearts when things ended, and he's clearly carried that with him every day for the six years since. Now, he's determined to make things right by being the most swoony man in the world.
I really like Camille and her giant heart. She's a total sweetie—a librarian who would rather spend her birthday hosting a LEGO competition than having a big celebration—but she's still carrying the hurt from when Drew ended things without giving her closure. It was nice to see her cut loose a little during the wedding celebrations without ever feeling like she was acting outside of herself.
My favorite relationship outside the romance is the friendship between Camille and her future sister-in-law, Ivy. In a world where bridezillas try to claim entire wedding years, it was refreshing to see a bride who is the first to say the week is about love and happiness, and that she wants Camille to find it just as much as she does. I loved seeing that kind of genuine support between the women.
And a special shoutout to the Liquid IV mocktail because that is low-key my new obsession. I need Treasure Lynne to drop the recipe STAT.
