I really enjoyed Josie and Sly's second-chance, cam girl × mechanic romance. It had just the right amount of angst as they recover from the wounds of their breakup, plus loads of spicy deliciousness.
Josie has been living her best van life when a blown transmission lands her back in the hometown she escaped ten years ago, after the town turned on her and her childhood sweetheart broke her heart. She's confident, independent, and making her dreams come true. She enjoys being a cam girl and isn't ashamed of her work, but she keeps her identity a secret because she's intelligent and knows the world can be dangerous for women. She's fun, she's bold, and I love her. Samantha Brentmoor narrates Josie, and she absolutely nails her sassy yet sweet voice.
And Sly? I am DOWN BAD for this slightly grumpy, quiet mechanic who regrets letting the love of his life go, especially because he did it all for her. He knows what Josie does for work and doesn't shame her; instead, he encourages her. He sees toys as teammates and isn't camera-shy. What isn't to love about this man? Even better, he's voiced by Jason Clarke, and let me tell you, that man's voice just does something for me.
Together, Josie and Sly have a deep history that makes their quick rekindling feel authentic. Even when Josie insists their connection is purely physical, it's clear the feelings are still there and just as intense as ever. I about had a breakdown when they were discussing their situation and all the reasons why being together supposedly couldn't work. They had me ON THE EDGE.
I also love the positive female friendships between Josie, her BFF Grace, and Sly's sister Sisi. These women don't judge each other; they're each other's biggest supporters, and I loved seeing that kind of unconditional encouragement. More of these friendships, please.
