Thank you to Hambright PR for the advance copy of this book. All opinions are my own and freely given.
I am SUCH a sucker for a haunted house story. Like, really, I will read anything if you tell me there’s a ghost haunting a house. I love it, I love the idea, and I will immediately consume it. Not just because it’s spooky season, but because it is a core personality trait. I was over the moon to get a chance to read this because, not only is it a spooky haunted house story, BUT it’s a haunted house that was also a doctor’s office! Could you imagine anything scarier!? Holy crap, I was sold!
Abigail can’t catch a break. She finally thought things were turning around for once. When her live-in professor boyfriend loses his job and his residence, they decide to make a move out of Chicago and into a very small town in Illinois with a mysterious house/doctor’s office that was willed to Abigail under strange circumstances. What could possibly go wrong?
Everything.
Nothing is as it seems. Not the town, not the house, and maybe, not even Abigail herself. Determined to figure out why she was left this strange property and how to start over without a clear idea of the future, she begins to uncover a very different story than what she thought she would find.
I enjoyed reading this one. My only issues (which admittedly are small) is that occasionally there’s some mentions of religion and small town politics that kind of drew me out of the whole haunted house aspect. Definitely a fun one for the season! And it’s available on shelves now!
