Because how do I explain this plot without making it sound like I've completely lost the plot myself?
A secret society. A kidnapping. An auction. A dark assassin. Russia. An escape. Being hunted. And two incredibly traumatised people trying to somehow find their way through all of it together.
And somehow, my favourite part wasn't even the absolute chaos of the plot. It was them.
They're such complex characters and literal opposites, but I loved watching their relationship develop and seeing them work through their trauma together. Their healing journey was messy, complicated and genuinely one of the things that made this book work so well for me.
Did the miscommunication make me want to shake them both occasionally? Yes.
Did it also serve up an absolutely ridiculous amount of yearning? Also yes. 😂
