Had Me Staring at the Wall

Book: Fate So Cruelly Bound by J.M. Grosvalet

This book had me staring at the wall once I'd turned the final page! I mean, Wow! This was so much more than I was anticipating.
I couldn't even think about writing my review for a few days. I had to sit with my scrambled brain and let it sink in.
This book is not on to be skim-read, and I can't see why you would want to. The magic system is super complex and nuanced.
The character development and growth is stunning and the slow burn is close to excruciating.
Elara, the FMC, is my kind of girl. She is intellectual and independent. She actually uses her brain.
The MMC's Reynnar and Ivan are very different characters to one another, but together they are everything Elara needs, whether she knows it or not.
I don't know what it is lately, but I'm beginning to feel that every fantasy I read, ends on a walloping great cliffhanger.
