Thank you Recorded Books for the gifted audiobook. All opinions are my own.
Came into this book in a massive reading slump (4 DNF’s in 1 week 😩). Came out of it loving (my reading) life again! 🤗
A swoony second chance-ish, childhood friends to lovers romance, featuring a character living with chronic pain, getting her HEA with the greenest of green flags. I loved every minute of this listen. 🥰
I instantly fell hard for Della, and the little happy life she’d made for herself. I thought the way Della’s chronic illness was portrayed was just so beautifully done. Grounded in reality, and just a part of who she is and her everyday life. (Definitely a portrayal I haven’t seen much in histrom, and I am so looking forward to the rest of this series for more rep like this!)
And then there’s Andrew. Talk about yearning. 😍 The deep affection he held for Della didn’t dissipate in the entire 8 years they were apart. And the care he showed for her through every action of his during the novel…🥰.
A big highlight of this book was definitely the side characters that surrounded them. I just love a happy little found family like this one.
I found myself hooked by the plot, the humor and the heart, and just had a smile on my face throughout the whole thing. Loved it.
Audiobook notes: Polly Lee was a new-to-me narrator, but I thought she did a splendid job in this. Wonderful voices, and hitting all the right notes in the emotional and swoony moments. I was captivated throughout, and definitely recommend the audio!
