Book: Out of the Embers by Amanda Cabot

When I pick up an Amanda Cabot book, I know exactly what I'm going to find- an interesting small town, a plucky heroine who wants a better life, a hero who needs to be a good man, and accurate historical depictions. In Out of the Embers, the setting is the Texas Hill Country. There is a little bit of a mystery in this one, which I greatly enjoyed. Cabot really knows how to tell a story and they are hard to put down.
