Book: A Home on the Page by Kao Kalia Yang

Home on the Page is both a delightful and sobering exploration of racism, acceptance, and family in the United States. The book has delightful illustrations that are whimsical and cozy, while connecting to the reader. There are several illustrations with unique points of view that add tension to the plot. The book follows a young Hmong girl living in the US who is facing racism in her neighborhood and at school. The plot delves into grief, emotional processing, and the value of family while the young girl navigates to find her place in this world. A glossary is provided at the end of the book for clarification of some of the words (both pronunciation and meaning) which is a valuable learning tool on its own. Five stars!
