I took my time with this one as I wanted to soak up every minute of those gothic vibes. The plot is complex with each timeline unravelling slowly as you try and figure out how and when they are going to converge. There are some pretty dark moments and although we know parts of the ending from the present day, the who and the how unravels slowly.
Petra is a great FMC; she is so resilient after putting up with bullying and being neglected by her parents. My heart broke for how lonely she was at some points. I really enjoyed her sense of humour and she has some genuine one liners which made me laugh. Sin definitely has an air of mystery about him but he is 100% gone for Petra. I'm looking forward to the audio release as I need to hear the meet the parents scene!
I can't talk about my favourite part this far from release but when I realised the implications I was all over it! This is a standalone but I'd love to see these characters again.
My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read
