How come when my relatives die I never get to start over in a haunted mansion, with new witchy friends, a paranormal conspiracy, and hunky cop devotee?
Like - I just get grief and religious idols I have no use for.
For Maggie though - it's magic and mystery in the town of Port Grey.
This book has a little bit of everything and I was hooked. Maggie is the driver of the hot mess express and watching her fumble along through moving to Port Grey, meet her new friends, get wrapped up in a murder mystery-turned-paranormal-mystery and figure out why she was oh-so-good at her love spells ... well, I was all in.
Every bit of this story was a delight; nothing was dropped or for no reason. Everything built to an explosive end and the cliffy? oof. I was left bouncing and ready for book two.
This is the type of fun book I go looking for when I want to play. It's dark, it's twisty, and it's just FUN. The spice is spicy, the twists are twisty, and it's just good plain fun.
