I am officially a shell of a human being.

I just finished Heir of the Shattered Veils: The First Scar by @celeannedorrington, and I’m currently accepting applications for a support group to recover from that ending. This is a God Tier read, and I honestly don’t know if words can do it justice.

Think Dragon Age: Inquisition but in a high-stakes fae dystopian world. The sky is literally being torn apart by a rift, and our FMC, Amaria, is the only one who can heal it (or tear the world apart). She’s dual-marked by light and shadow—stubborn, sassy, and exactly the kind of lead I live for.

The character dynamics here are incredible. You have Eryndor, the King’s enforcer who is tethered to the throne and sent to capture Amaria. Their connection is explosive. The "Eyes on me" and "Good girl" moments had me absolutely melting. 🥵

But it’s the supporting cast that really rounds out the heart of this story. Sereyna is the ultimate "ride or die" best friend, and Maxx brings the perfect amount of clever humor to the serious parts. Even the mysterious shadow dragon rider, Dreadscale, shows moments of surprising tenderness that caught me off guard. Between the chemistry and the endearing nicknames like Little Fox and Little Flame, you can’t help but get deeply attached to everyone.

This story is fresh, fast-paced, and so unique. The political intrigue and the rebellion kept me breathless, but that betrayal at the end? It hurt bad. I am destroyed and I have no idea how I’m going to wait for books two and three.
