What a debut gothic horror to kick off spooky season! An Immaculate Deception keeps you constantly guessing from start to finish. It’s best to go into this one completely blind so the twists take you by surprise. Just know it’s set in 1870s Brazil and features a protagonist navigating deep religious trauma.
The atmosphere is eerie and delivers everything you could want from the genre. As strange incidents begin occurring throughout the house, Livino masterfully builds up the paranoia and suspense.
I’d highly recommend this to any gothic horror fan. I was so hooked I flew through it in nearly one sitting, and I can't wait to see what the author writes next.
