Auren’s journey in this book was slower but so powerful. We really see her start to question everything she’s believed about Midas and what love is supposed to look like. The emotional and mental growth here made this installment feel raw, painful, and beautiful all at once.
This story is less about the plot and more about Auren’s internal war. This book shows the moment she begins to realize that what she thought was devotion was really control. Watching her start to peel back that golden illusion was incredibly satisfying.
I also loved the new characters and the beginning of that found family vibe in the Fourth Kingdom. And Rip? Let’s just say I’m officially intrigued.
It’s dark, heavy, and at times hard to read, but this book feels like it’s setting up the larger story and cast of characters.
