This book had my heart melting all over the place — I cried at the end just because it was over. I want to live forever with Jamie and Tyler, the sweetest, most supportive couple ever.
I love the deeper meaning behind “making time.” It isn’t just minutes on a clock. It’s choosing to show up. It’s being present when it’s hard. It’s actively loving someone instead of just saying you do. The entire story felt more mature than most romances I read, and I loved that steady, grounded vibe.
Jamie had my whole heart. He wants so badly to be the best captain he can be — for his team, for the fans, and for himself. He’s holding himself to impossible standards, and it’s crushing to watch him measure his worth against them. “Good” feels like such an inadequate word, but he is a GOOD man — sweet, caring, protective in that quiet, steady way. I want Jamie in my life.
Tyler brought out the mom in me. I just wanted to wrap him up and tell him he’s doing enough. He works so hard to be the best dad to Rowan while juggling more than one identity — barista, driver, exotic dancer — and none of them diminish his softness. I loved watching Jamie’s family (biological and found) embrace Tyler and become the support system he’s been quietly craving.
This is the first time I’ve seen a dad portrayed like Tyler: soft and feminine in a way that is sexy and positive. He wears his fishnets with his son on his hip, and I loved it.
The story itself is quiet, but in a way that lingers. I have a feeling this one is going to stay with me for a long time. This was my first Taylor E. Weston book, but it absolutely won’t be my last.
