I had a lot of issues with this book and unfortunately do not recommend this. This was a DNF at 17% for me.
The writing on this is rather annoying. If I were to read the entirety of the book, I think it would end up being a 2-3 star book, just fine or ok. I found myself thinking that if it wasn't an ARC, I wouldn't keep going, and that's the moment when I realized I shouldn't keep pushing myself through, because that does nobody any favors.
The prologue starts off feeling like a drunken montage that you'd see in 30 seconds at the beginning of a tv show, but does NOT work well in a novel.
I struggled with the names right out of the gate. We've got a Bram Loe, Leo, and a Joey. I couldn't keep up with who was who.
For the bartender not being one of the main characters, we sure seem to care a WHOLE lot about his future pontoon - just seemed like a lot of wasted time/space on seemingly inconsequential detail, and the way it was done wasn't enough to make me care about it if I was supposed to.
The writing style is a bit awkward and doesn't flow well. There are so many hyper specific references that don't feel like they're adding to the book in any way.
I didn't find any of the characters to be particularly likeable.
Some of the impulses and urges that we were getting from the characters felt really out of place.
