I really enjoyed Caspian and Emberly’s romance. Caspian tries desperately to convince himself that Emberly is off-limits, but his growing feelings and protective instincts tell a completely different story. Their attraction created some wonderful tension, and the spice earned three peppers from me.
I also enjoyed the mystery and danger surrounding Emberly. Someone pushed her down the stairs, but because she is known for being clumsy, convincing anyone that she was attacked proves difficult. The possibility of a killer hiding inside the palace added suspense and kept me wondering who could be trusted.
Emberly’s shyness, nervous oversharing, and fear of embarrassing herself made her relatable. I loved seeing how deeply she began to affect Caspian, even when he refused to admit it.
This was an entertaining fantasy romance filled with danger, mystery, protective behavior, and plenty of heated chemistry.
